Myanmar: Mandalay – Shweinbin Monastery
Here’s another teak wood monastery (abundant in central Myanmar) from the late 19th century with incredible carving and built to display and exhibit all traditional Buddhist architectural styles prevalent of Myanmar. Standing above ground on stilts, the inside is dark with the gold-tinted black wood lit up by few sunlight rays penetrating through ornate windows. It’s less famous the the golden monastery (see one of the previous posts), and hence you can get it all to yourself.
