Amazonas: Amazon Pink River Dolphin

Amazon is famous for its pink river dolphins that live in the freshwater river. They actually are a species of toothed whales and not dolphins, although the size is more similar to the latter. They have pink underbelly and a bulbous head. Unlike dolphins, pink dolphins rarely jump out of the water and just surface every 5-6 minutes for a quick breath of air. They are very difficult to photograph. There are some places in Amazon where you can swim with dolphins, but I thought it’s more interesting to observe them at a distance in the true wilderness of the Anavilhanas national park.
