Abkhazia: Lake Ritsa National Park

Lake Ritsa is the natural jewel of Abkhazia – at an elevation over 1000m/3000ft and surrounded by mountains on all sides – it’s spectacularly scenic. The mountain road leading up to the lake and dead-ending there twists and turns through slot like gorges and canyons. At the lake – a panorama of Caucasus opens up. Rare evergreen boxwood groves cover all the mountainsides.
