Afghanistan: Kabul – Ka Farushi Bird Bazaar
This marketplace is centuries old – from medieval times Afghani people bought and sold birds here at the bazaar of narrow lanes and overhanging stalls. Birds have been a huge part of the Afghani culture for centuries – some (canaries and finches) bought for singing, some (larks and pigeons) bought for fighting, and some for food. It’s a hectic place of bird cages, bird feed, bird sellers, and bird buyers.
