Afghanistan: Kabul – Mandawi Market

It’s not just a bird bazaar that’s worth visiting – beyond it it’s a sprawling marketplace of everything else – the Mandawi Market. Located near the Kabul River and not far from the Bird Market, Mandawi Market is one of Kabul’s largest and most iconic bazaars. It’s chaotic and colorful with wide array of goods, including spices, textiles, dried fruits, nuts, jewelry, traditional Afghan clothing, knifes and swords, and much much more. The market is a photocopier’s delight, with stalls overflowing with pistachios, intricately woven carpets, colorful embroiled clothing and hats, and grains of all shapes and sizes. Its as authentic as it gets.
