Afghanistan: Paymuri Hot Springs

Unexpectedly, there is a hot spring around 30 east of Banyan along the main highway – it’s quite impressive and spectacular tabular with bright orange travertine terraces and multiple spots of boiling water coming from the ground on both sides of the road. Interestingly, the water supposedly contains very high amounts of poisonous arsenic, alongside of barium, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc.
