Albania: Rozafa Castle
Rozafa Castle is a 13th century fortress above the city of Shkoder in northern Albania. First it was a Greek outpost, later a Roman fortification. Two major seizures and battles happened here – Ottoman Turks advancing on Montenegrins and later Montenegrins taking it back centuries later. It’s positioned on a hill way above the surrounding countryside so a very strategic location.
