Aldabra: Aldabra Atoll – Aldabra Flying Fox
Here’s another super rare animal that can be found in Aldabra – the Aldabra Flying Fox. This is one of the rarest bats in the world, with only 250 left. We saw several flying around near sunset time (difficult to photograph), but actually landed and hang in a palm tree. These bats are quite large, up to 1m wingspan! Like other flying foxes, they primarily feed on fruit, nectar, and flowers.. Their diet largely consists of native fruits and flowers, and they are known to travel between islands on the atoll in search of food.
