Aldabra: Astove Atoll – Snorkeling
The remote Astove atoll is renowned for its coral reefs and diverse marine life. The island is encircled by steep coral walls that drop dramatically into the ocean, creating an underwater terrain teaming with fish and sea. The coral itself was rather bleached in almost all spots, but the amount of fish and variety of species was quite staggering. Also the water clarity was subpar given the recent storms and sand in the water as well as a lot of floating microscopic plankton.
