Algeria: Tassili n’Ajjer NP – Wildlife in Sahara
There isn’t much wildlife in the hot and dry endless sands of Sahara. Wildlife, what little of it is here, comes out mostly at dusk and at night. Various bugs and beetles, scorpions, ticks, small desert mice, lizards and geckos. We saw tracks of snakes. Small desert birds also show up. We really wanted to see Fenek Fox with big ears and jackals, but only saw lots of tracks. Supposedly there are also large Barbary Sheep high in the cliffs and Dorcas Gazelle in isolated areas. Also desert hedgehogs, but alas we didn’t see them either.
