Angola: Malanje
Malanje is a provincial capital in the center of Angola and a gateway to two biggest natural attractions of Pedras Negras (previous posts) and Kalandula Falls (coming next). The central square in particular is worth a visit – pastel-colored colonial buildings are emblazoned with socialist MPLA symbolically and party slogans as well as the pictures of Neto, Dos Santos, and Lourenco (the three presidents of Angola). There is also a peculiar monument made out of AK-47 guns. The whole square felt like a dejavu of Castro’s Cuba and once again I started subconsciously humming the “International”
