Angola: Praia Pedras Negras
Praia Pedras Negras aka Black Rocks Beach is a spectacular lava beach in a hard-to-get-to coastal section of Namibe. The secluded beach is surrounded by relatively recent lava flows, with jagged rocks, platform, seastacks, and many black pebbles. Totally spectacular! Not swimmable since it’s rough and cold. And how about getting fresh oysters straight off the exposed lava cliffs at low tide, shucking them right there next to Atlantic Ocean waves and savoring fresh? Or how about picking live sea urchins out of tidal pools for some fresh uni? Right there on an Angolan beach? That’s a gastronomic experience that’s once in a lifetime! Plus – an insane experience camping at the spectacular Praia Pedras Negras beach – freshly grilled fish and lobsters, gin & tonic, and waking up to the sounds of waves almost lapping at your tent!
