Antigua: Fort James
Fort James is located on the northwest coast of Antigua, near the capital city of St. John’s. Built by the British in the early 18th century to protect the island from the French, it offers panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding areas. The fort is named after King James II of England and was strategically positioned to defend the island’s main harbor, St. John’s Harbour, from potential attacks. Today, it is rather unmaintained and somewhat abandoned and decrepit.
