Argentina: Buenos Aires – Metropolitan Cathedral
Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral is the main cathedral in Argentina, overlooking the Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosado in the heart of Buenos Ayres. The massive building is the mother church of the Argentinian Catholics and dates back to the 16th century, although the current huge structure is mostly from 18th and 19th centuries. The cathedral is built like a cross. The neoclassical facade leads to dark ornate baroque interior with a lot of decoration and religious relics – altars, chapels, pulpits, organ, and much more. The cathedral also house the mausoleum of General Jose de San Martin aka the Liberator of Argentina.
