Argentina: Cuis Chico
Here’s an unusual little animal from the Peninsula Valdez – cuis chico aka southern mountain cavy (microcavia australis). This a small tailless rodent, super cute and super active. They are like the South American version of prairie dogs in the USA – they live in large colonies and dig underground burrows. They also communally watch for threats from above (birds) and warn each other.
