Argentina: Lujan – Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan
Lujan Basilica aka Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan (some call it a cathedral, but it’s actually just a basilica). It is often called ale Capital de La Fe – Capital of the Faith, for the “miracle” thy supposedly happened here in 1630 – a statue of Virgin Mary was transported here from Brazil to Peru and the cart got stuck in mud, which was a divine sign to built a church here where the statue – now an important relic – is housed. And now six million pilgrims per year come here. The church is very pretty, neo-Gothic in architecture with soaring spires and ornate interior.
