Ascension: Fort Bedford & Jubilee Hill
Jubilee Hill is located right above the Ascension’s capital of Georgetown and offers panoramic views of the town and the harbor and ocean beyond, as well as volcanic cones inland. This is also a location of one of the three military forts on the island – Fort Bedford. There are several naval guns located here, pointing toward the sea, all came from HMS Hood and were only used once in WWII when a German U-boat approached the island.
