Austral Islands/Raivavae: Pigs
Only about 800 people live on the entire island of Raivavae and everybody grows their own crops raises their own pigs. Pigs are semi-feral all around the islands – people just tie them to trees in the forest and let them roam around and dig dirt. There is also a small islet off the shore where a whole family of 20 or so pigs live and are fed once a day. I guess you can call it free-range pork?
