Australia: Cape Otway Lighthouse

Cape Otway Lighthouse at the tip of Otway peninsula is Australia’s oldest working lighthouse dating to 1848. Up to half a dozen ships sank just off the coast Cape Otway in treacherous waters of Bass Strait in years preceding the lighthouse construction. The lighthouse looks quite iconic with a classic white tower on the edge of the cliffs. Besides the lighthouse, there are several historic heritage buildings, such as the original lighthouse keeper’s cottages, telegraph station, and the radar station. Plus there’s wildlife to spot – like a swamp wallaby we spend a good half hour observing!
