Australia: Kakadu NP – Birds at Yellow Water Billabong
There are over 220 species of birds in Kakadu National Park and a large bulk of them are waterfowl that congregate around floodplains like the Yellow Water Billabong. The species of resident birdlife you can spot includes jacana, great and little egrets, jabiru storks, great billed herons, black-necked storks, many white/bellied sea eagles, magpie geese, brolgas (aka Australian cranes), wandering whistling ducks, Australian white and glossy ibises, pied cormorants, Australian darters, and many other native species. The tiny azure kingfishers were particularly cool!
