Australia: Litchfield NP – Exploring the Park
Often overlooked by tourists rushing to the more famous Kakadu, the Litchfield National Park is quite a gem. It covers an area of over 1,500 sq kilometers (580 square miles) and is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, diverse ecosystems(more so then in Kakadu), and abundance of waterfalls, rock formations, and native wildlife. The park is characterized by sandstone plateaus, deep gorges, and monsoon forests, but one of its most iconic features is the series of waterfalls – Wango, Florence, Tolmer, Buley Rockhole and more. Diversity of habitats also brings the corresponding diversity in wildlife – we saw dozens of wallabies, and lots of unique birds, like the colorful parrots, large brolga cranes, and more.
