Australia: Pine Creek Railway Museum

A small museum in the tiny middle-of-nowhere Pike Creek preserves what’s left of the railway station that once terminated here during the gold rush days and the North Australian Railway. The narrow-gauge railway was originally constructed in the late 19th century to support the mining industry, booming at the time due to the discovery of gold and other minerals. The line initially extended from Pine Creek to the town of Burrundie, with plans to eventually connect to the main railway network in Darwin. However, these plans were never fully realized, and the Pine Creek Railway remained a relatively isolated line serving the local mining community.
