Azad Kashmir: Driving Through Azad Kashmir

Azad Kashmir is a self-governing administrative region under Pakistani control, located in the western part of the broader Kashmir region, disputed between India and Pakistan. Azad Kashmir operates as a semi-autonomous region with its own constitution, president, prime minister, and legislative assembly, but Pakistan oversees defense, foreign affairs, and currency. Given the recent escalation with India, we were strictly prohibited to make any stops along the way, which is a shame given how beautiful it is. It presents as a stunning series of landscaped with lush mountainous, part of the Himalayan and Karakoram foothills, with deep river valleys, green forests, and high peaks.
