Azerbaijan: Baku Old City

Old City Baku – completely walled fortress city with narrow and twisting streets going up and down in all directions, a total maze which I already got lost in twice. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has towers and wall surrounding dense center with mosques and monuments. The highlight is the symbol of Baku – the Maiden Tower – dating to the 12th century. Other notable buildings are Mutani and Bukhara Caravanserais, Palace of the Shirvanshahs, Hajji Gayyib Hammam, and many other.
