Azores: Azores Food Recap
Time for a food (and alcohol) recap of Azores – tons of seafood as expected (I ate octopus made 5 different ways), excellent free range beef, artisanal cheeses, and Pico lava grown wines. Pico is also famous for liqueurs, as the black lava absorbs a lot of sun heat and the grapes come out super sweet. Reportedly, Russian czars used to send entire ships to Azores just to bring the liqueur. Oh, I also tried limpets which are essentially barnacle shells (fantastic grilled, somewhat an adventure raw…)
