Bahamas/Exumas: Tropic of Cancer Beach
Exumas is one of the most southernly island groups in the Bahamas and as such, the imaginary line of the Tropic of Cancer crosses the island of Little Exuma smack in the middle on the stunningly beautiful Tropic of Cancer Beach. Some argue this is the best beach in the Exumas (possibly the whole world to be honest) – absolutely sparkling white fine sand, crescent curve, and aquamarine clear waters. The two small islets just offshore is where two separate Pirates of the Caribbean movies were filmed when Jack Sparrow got washed out on uninhabited islands. The best part of it all – the beach is absolutely empty – all the crowds stay on cruiseships and ugly Nassau and nobody makes it to the far off the beaten path Exumas. It’s a shame or a blessing?
