Bahamas/Harbor Island: Dunmore Town
Harbor Island lies a short 20min speed ferry ride off northern Eleuthera but it’s considered a separate administrative district. The island is an elite and rather exclusive beach destination with world famous pink sand beach (next post) and a dozen of ultra boutique small hotels. The only town on the island is Dummore Town – just several streets along the waterfront and up the hill. If you want to know what “quaint” is – come to Dunmore, because that’s what i think of quaint – there are no cars (just golf carts), colorful centuries-old houses, several even more colorful churches, boutique little shops, boutique little restaurants, and tiny 2-5 rooms hotels. This smells “old school money” – nobody is flashing the bling, but the air is full of exclusivity and arrogance.
