Bangladesh: Bangladesh Food Recap
Rice and fish are the two main staple foods in Bangladesh and there are hundreds of ways the two are prepared and combined. Biriyanis and curries are flavorful and quite spice, often tamed down a bit with lentils. (You can try a beef biriyani here, as cows are not sacred unlike in India). Freshwater fish like hilsa, rohu, and pangasius are staples, often cooked in mustard oil with spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, and chili. Hilsa is actually the national fish and we tried it – quite flavorful! Lots of bizarre vegetables and fruits here, lots of juices, no alcohol.
