Bangladesh: Dhaka – Dhaka University
Dhaka University is the oldest university in Bangladesh, established in 1921 during British colonial rule. The university’s early buildings reflect British architectural styles combined with Mughal and local Bengali elements – in fact, many building look more like palaces than campus structures. Today, it has 13 faculties, 83 departments, 12 institutes, over 56 research centers, 20 residential halls, and nearly 37,000 students with 2,000 faculty members. Dhaka University has played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s history, leading the 1952 Language Movement, the 1971 Liberation War, and the 2024 July Revolution.
