Bangladesh: Moyezuddin Bishwash Palace & Shrine
Seems like Bangladesh had a lot of wealthy landlords who competed one against the other in building ultra elaborate ornate houses. One more of them was Moyezuddin Bishwash. He built a fortune through trade and landholdings across Bengal, Punjab, and Arabia, becoming one of the wealthiest merchants and landlords in 19th-century Bengal. He was also a philanthropist, politician, and contributed a lot to the local communities – hence perhaps the shrine where he was laid to rest right on the premises of the mansion, a spectacular white palace that is now a museum.
