Belgium: Liège
Liege is not a particularly pretty town. It’s the third biggest in Belgium after Brussels in Antwerp, but it doesn’t have the many pretty buildings and squares, rather it was an industrial powerhouse of the country. Nevertheless, there are still several attractions to be had, although I wouldn’t say one should go out of their way to visit Leige. In the center, there is the passive Palais des Princes-Evêques, several beautiful churches (including the red and white church of Saint-Barthélemy), and nice cobblestone streets leading to the embankment of the river that flows through the city.
