Benin: Lake Aheme – Canoeing
A sunset “cruise” on the shallow Lake Aheme with a local fisherman using a bamboo pole to propel the canoe while explaining all the fishing technique the people employ to get the catfish and their oily and bony brethren out of the water. Throwing small nets, laying bamboo bottom traps and then diving for them, assembling stick-traps for crabs, and so on – fishing is the villagers’ livelihood and they are quite specialized at it.
