Botswana: CKGR – Birds
irding is always a special part of wildlife observation. Birds play an irreplaceable role in the lifecycle of ecosystems, acting as pollinators, seed dispersers, and natural pest controllers. Lilac-breasted roller (for example), one of the most stunning birds in Africa, plays a vital role in insect control preying on grasshoppers, beetles, and other insects, it helps maintain a balanced ecosystem, preventing outbreaks that could damage vegetation. We spotted many birds, despite being so deep in the dry lands of the Kalahari. Birds are true masters of adaptation, thriving even in the harshest conditions. Here is a list of birds our camera caught: Great spotted cuckoo, Wide-browed sparrow weaver, Shaft-tailed whydah, Fork-tailed drongo, southern yellow billed hornbill, red-billed spurfowl, red-crested korhaan, pale chanting goshawk, lilac-breasted roller, red-faced mousebird, southern masked weaver, common fiscal, capped wheatear, passer, northern black korhaan, comon chaffinch, black kite, crimpson-breasted shrike, red-billed teal, black kite, black-winged stilt, common greenshank, breeding couple of bateleurs (which is very very rare sighting).
