Elephants spend hours wallowing in mud and then dusting themselves – a true elephant spa procedure that takes a long time. Mud wallowing serves the purpose of cooling off and also applying a layer of mud on the skin to protect it from the sun. Dusting seals off the wet mud on the body solidifying the cooling effect as well as stuffing all the skin pores and making them inaccessible to biting animals – a true body armor.
