Botswana: Flying into Central Kalahari

The entire southwest portion of Botswana is just an endless sea of mostly flatland wilderness – the vast Kalahari semi-desert. It is the location of the world largest game reserve – the Central Kalahari Game Reserve – with a whopping 52.8 thousand sq km. It’s very remote, hardly visited, and very unique – and that’s precisely why you make an extra effort of taking several fights, and small single propeller planes dodging rainstorms and lightning to get here! In the beginning of the wet season the dry landscape very rapidly turns green, often in just a matter of days!
