Bougainville: Arawa – Singing
Bougainville is home to various ethnic groups, but the main indigenous people are the Bougainvilleans. Within this population, there are different tribes and clans, contributing to the region’s cultural diversity. The most prominent ethnic groups include the Nasioi, Telei, and Siwai, each with its own distinct traditions and languages. As it was out last stop in PNG before moving in to the next country, we got treated to an absolutely spectacular singsing – two different tribal performance groups and both the best on the island did a fiery show back to back and the dancing and music and singing went on even after we had to leave.
