Belem is a great place to try the typical Amazonian cuisine, which is very different from the rest of Brazil, with dishes like tucupi with jambu (wild manioc broth with numbing jambu wild leaves), filhote fish (giant Amazonian catfish, largest in the world), vatapa (river shrimp and manioc stew), manicaba (Amazonian feijoada) and much more – never enough time to try everything).
