British Virgin Islands: Bone Bight Nature Trail
Anegada is a desolate piece of paradise with no people and beautiful nature. The entire center of the island is an uninhabited jumble of salt pools and one sand road with several walking trails leading over the sandy terrain toward various bays, including the spectacular Bone Bight. Anegada is an island with unique flora and fauna – the world’s rarest Anegada rock iguana is here (only 400 left – we saw a couple baby iguanas at a breeding facility), Caribbean flamingo feed in salt ponds, and the rich reef waters are teaming with Anegada conch and giant Caribbean lobster (coming in the food recap post). Hiking the island’s interior brings you face to face with blooming wild orchids and other native plants.
