Cabo Verde/Sal: Santa Maria & Sal Beach
Sal is the island that receives most tourists for the simple reason of long beaches all around. Other than that – there isn’t much to see here, no natural attractions and the island is flat, dry, ad sandy. The main city of Santa Maria is nothing special either except for a spectacular Sal Beach fronting it and great restaurants lined up along. The sand is yellow and fine, the water warm and calm, and cheap charter flights bring German tourists in thousands for a cheap beach vacations (this is clearly a German version of Russians going to Egypt on packaged tours). The beaches are peppered by super pale Germans trying to get sunburned. Other then that – this is a skippable island.
