Cameroon: Bagyeli Pigmy Village

Visiting a lost world village of Bagyeli pigmy tribes seemed like an incredible and unique cultural experience…. and it turned out to be a total waste and ripoff. After 40 minutes by boat, you arrive at a forest path and 10 minutes later you come to a simple settlement in the woods. It looks and feels just like a simple village of people who for some reason or other decided to live here and not close to the nearby town of Kribi. No traditional housing or customs or clothings or way of life here – just mostly women (men were gone hunting for bushmeat) around shanty huts with some kids running around. You immediately get assulted for donations and payments for this “cultural experience” and are “guilted” into “supporting the community”. A total disappointment!
