Cameroon: Londji Fishing Village
The fishing village of Londji along the Cameroon’s Atlantic coast gets busy and loud twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays with one of the largest fish markets in the whole country. The ultra-wide and beautiful crescent of a stunning sandy beach gets packed with small boats filled with fish freshly caught the night before…. That’s what usually happens, but unfortunately on the day I came the seas were too rough for offshore fishing and nobody went out. A couple people were still selling a few dinky buckets of tiny fish, and most village fishermen were busy repairing they boats, checking nets for hikes, or just simply lounging and doing nothing by the bar drinking beer.
