Cameroon: Yaunde – National Museum of Cameroon
The National Museum of Cameroon in located in the former presidential palace, surrounded by sprawling gardens. The museum is quite all-encompassing. There is a portion of the history of the country (mostly photographs of various leaders and presidents – not that many since presidents tend to serve here for 50+ years). The is a large collection of masks, statues, and shell-encrusted royal hats. There is a section displayed traditional houses of different regions as well as another section with rooms dedicated to each region – traditional dresses, way of life, aspects of agriculture, etc. Finally, there is a large section of abstract and modern art.
