Canada/Alberta: Alberta Prairie Landscapes
Most of southeastern Alberta is prairie and endless fields of blooming canola interspersed with oil pumps, and grasslands with pronghorn antelopes and coyotes. And all of this is endless and to horizon! Interestingly in Alberta it’s not just canola oil, but also honey – Canola fields in Alberta are a major contributor to the province’s agricultural output, but they also play a significant role in honey production as Alberta is Canada’s largest honey producer. Bright orange beehives are standing in the middle of the canola fields as they feed on canola flowers, producing light-colored, mild-flavored honey that’s highly valued and is considered premium in Canada and is exported globally. And then of course there is the more traditional black oil being pumped in the middle of canola flowers and bees!
