Canada/BC: Glacier NP – Roger’s Pass
Glacier National Park (not to be confused with the one in USA) is another spectacular park adjacent to the Rocky Mountains. It is west of Yoho and further into the wetter ranges of British Columbia. The park is known for its rugged peaks, dense forests, and significant snowfall. The Transcanadian Highway runs through the park and reaches its high point at the Rogers Pass in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains. Discovered in 1881 by Major A.B. Rogers, it played a crucial role in completing the Canadian Pacific Railway, linking eastern and western Canada. The pass sits at an elevation of 1,330 m (4,360 feet) and is known for its challenging weather and avalanche conditions. The park’s visitor center is at the pass, as well as several monuments and absolutely surreal mountain views in all directions.
