Canada/BC: Kootenay NP – Paint Pots
Paint Pots in Kootenay National Park is a unique geological site featuring vibrant ochre-colored mineral springs. These springs deposit iron-rich sediments that visually stunning contrast against the surrounding greenery. It’s a palette of red, orange, yellow, brown, and everything in between. All of this contrasts against the greens of the forest and mountains and the blue of the skies. Historically, the paint pots have been used by indigenous people for pigments.
