Canada/Manitoba: Riding Mountain National Park
Riding Mountain National Park is a vast protected area in Manitoba, encompassing over 3,000 sq km of diverse landscapes. Established in 1933, the park is part of the UNESCO Riding Mountain Biosphere Reserve. The park has a convergence of completely different habitats in one place: grassland and prairies in the south with blowing wildflowers and roaming bison, lakes and marshes with elks and moose, boreal forests with wolves in the north, and mixed aspen/birth/poplar deciduous forests with black bears and deer. And lots of lakes with birds!
