Canada/Manitoba: Whiteshell Provincial Park

Whiteshell Provincial Park is a large wilderness park located in southeastern Manitoba. The park a has a lot pristine wilderness, including dense forests, rivers, and over 200 lakes. One of the lakes – West Hawk Lake – is actually a meteor crater. The lake was formed by a meteorite impact around 100 million years ago. West Hawk Lake is the deepest lake in Manitoba 115 me (377 feet). It doesn’t look much different from any other lake, except for a huge depth dropoff right off the beach. Interestingly, there are less then 200 meteor impact sites in the entire world, and 31 of them are in Canada.
