Canada/Quebec: Basilique Sainte Anne de Beaupré
Basilique Sainte Anne de Beaupre, located about 30km north from Quebec City is perhaps the most beautiful church in the entire Canada. It is also the church that received the most pilgrims in Canada since it’s famous for supposedly having cured a lot of people. A church stood here since 1658, but the current structure is mostly from 1946. The gothic building with two towers is absolutely gorgeous from the outside, but it’s the stunning interior that totally blows you away. Painting, mosaics, wood carvings, frescoes, sculptures – it’s all here! The basilica honors Saint Anne, the patron saint of Quebec. Mostly disabled pilgrims flock here, as legend has it that one of the basilica’s original builders began his work on crutches, but was able to walk without them when the construction finished.
