Just like it is in the USA when you drive west and pass endless flatness of the Midwest states with field of corn, you similarly pass seemingly boundless flat and later rolling fields in the middle of Canada. The rural landscape of Saskatchewan is just vast, open plains and endless fields of wheat, canola (aka raps), and other grains. The region’s agricultural heritage is deeply rooted in these expansive farmlands, which stretch to the horizon under big prairie skies. Dotted with small farming communities, grain elevators, and windmills, the landscape embodies the classic image of the Canadian prairies. The Transcanadian Highway traverses all this for miles and miles.
