Canada/YT : Yukon Wildlife Reserve
An absolutely must-see place near Whitehorse is the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. Given the size and inaccessibility of Yukon’s nature, it would take many weeks to try and see all its wildlife, but here almost all of it is presented in natural environment in large fenced areas. It’s a 7km walking/hiking to see all the areas, but it’s worth it – wood bison, elk, mountain goats, moose, caribou, mule deer, musk ox, thinhorn sheep. There are also predators – Canadian lynx, red and arctic foxes – but they are difficult to see. And then there are tons of prairie dogs and squirrels.
